Hattie Corlista Tillotson was the daughter of William Thomas Tillotson and Mary Elizabeth Wooll. Hattie was born on May 6, 1868 in Elsie, Clinton County, Michigan. Her name also appears as Hattie Calista Tillotson.

Hattie married Levi Arthur Maynard on December 21, 1891 in Elsie, Clinton County, Michigan. Levi was the son of David Albert Maynard and Sarah Ann Carter. Levi was born November 26, 1869 in Kingston, Tuscola County, Michigan.

Hattie and Levi had one child:
Walter A. Maynard was born September 21, 1892 in Kingston, Tuscola County, Michigan. (The birth date also appears as September 26, 1894.) He attended elementary school and high school in Elsie, Michigan. In 1917 he was graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in engineering. During World War I he served in the Navy. After returning he married Ruth Baumgartner on June 24, 1919 in La Crosse, La Porte County, Indiana. They had two children.
Walter worked for the White Motor Company for fifteen years as a sales engineer. Later he worked for the General Motors Corporation for twenty years as personnel director of the Cleveland Diesel Engine Division. After retiring in 1959 he spent seven years traveling the world. On one of his trips at the age of 70 he drove from Singapore to Portugal.
Walter died June 6, 1968 after a short illness. He is buried in Cleveland, Ohio.

Hattie Corlista Tillotson Maynard died of cancer on February 18, 1900 in Orion, Oakland County, Michigan at the young age of 31 (see her obituary).
